  • Who knows, maybe they gave this guy a Chick Tract.

  • Are you saying there are banking sites where you have problems logging in using a web browser? Because using a web browser is what I am suggesting.

  • Well, at least I made a lot of money on OT with that one…

  • Most banking (and many other) apps could be a website, and most (all?) banks have websites, so a linux phone could be compatible with most banks the same way a desktop OS is compatible with most banks.

But I agree that we're several years out from Linux phones becoming anything more than a novelty. It's still a good path to take. We really need a magic rectangle that is not locked down in any way.

  • Maybe 2026 can be Year of the Linux Phone.

  • Vaccines are not supposed to be reactionary, they are preperatory.

  • Meta has always believed in giving people the power to share, connect, and shape your world in the ways you want

His first statement is a bald-faced lie. Why should we believe anything else he says?

  • So you walk in the street, and then get yelled at.

  • How far has Lemmy stock fallen? Oh that's right, there's no corporation and there are no shareholders. Knowing that sure feels good.

  • His whole discography is awesome. When I heard the Drive soundtrack, for some reason I thought it was one of those one-off things, and I didn't look at the rest of his discography until years later when somebody gave me a specific recommended order to listen to the rest of his discography. It's all rad. I just listened to it all again when I found out he died. What a shame he passed too soon.

  • Why does Microsoft always abuse its customers?

  • Fox news is such a shit show. Guy on the left asked no good faith questions, he was not looking for a real answer. Guy on the right did such a great job keeping a calm demeanor while being repeatedly interrupted and ridiculed.

  • Living in a city where you can commute by mass transit is such a joy. You can get on and off wherever you want, for whatever reason. On the train and feel like stopping at the library or the pub on the way home? Hop off early. Feel like taking a long walk to think through things? Take a different transit line that takes you to the far side of a scenic walk. Have to meet up with people at a third place? No need to worry about having to find and pay for parking at that place. Want to play video games or read a book on your commute? Go for it. If you're lucky you might even get in a nap.

Of course it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Trains can be delayed due to technical problems, people parking their cars on the train tracks, etc.. Unexpected delays happen with cars too though, so it's really a wash.

God I miss living in a city with good transit.

  • This seems like a good idea for their brand. Many people will eventually come to see that folks on trek bikes are not acting like assholes. Also it puts them in agreement with the park rangers. It's a bit of a "walled garden" move, restricting what people can do with the things they bought, but IMHO it's good to have a brand with this stance.
