  • It's a bit confusing. This link https://religionnews.com/2026/07/20/half-of-gen-z-says-trump-support-keeps-them-out-of-church/ breaks it down by demographics, and only 72% of atheists agreed with the statement. What could that mean? That they already have zero chance of going to church? That they would go to church just for the lulz, or because somebody they cared about asked them to attend a holiday service?

However, that same article also includes this:

44% of those who identified as a generic Christian, 42% of Catholics and 30% of Protestant young adults said they were turned off by the Christian-Trump alliance.

Also there is a graph that shows only 21% of Gen Z attending church weekly.

  • Imagine if satanists did this.

  • "You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!"

  • "Big things happen in big places, and the sooner I file my report, the sooner I can get back to them."

  • Last month, a protester repeatedly shouted "pedophile" at Trump and gave him two middle fingers while he toured a Mack truck factory in Macungie, Pennsylvania.

  • Oh interesting, I didn't realize he was famous on TV. I basically quit watching TV in the mid 90's.

  • Terrible trigger discipline, but I guess it does send a message.

  • It's crazy that "local first" has to apply to cars now.

  • I can't tell if it's the sun or the moon.

  • Only tangentially related, yesterday I learned that the actor who played Nedry was in Dirty Dancing.

  • nice. there's a github repo that has it too, but seeing it directly from the source is a more honest, direct way to show people what is going on. the least hand-wavy way.

Edit: Acutally the link you posted is more stragithtforward than the GH one, showing the instructions on how to generate the list in the README.md. Very cool.

  • C'mon anti-theft system, you had one job!

  • i was going to ask where all the electric tuk-tuks were coming from! but then i realized they could be made by hand or by other SEA brands like vinfast. i mean, cuba has them, right? and then i looked them up and apparently you can get one off ali express for less than $2k usd. crazy.

  • I have also had great results with meditation aiding my sleep. For me it was mindfulness meditation, and recognizing when my mind was buzzing or going in circles, then letting the thoughts go and coming back to my breath or just observing my empty mind and watching for the first sign of a thought.

For years I was hugely skeptical that saying words in my mind would make a difference, but when I tried a sleep meditation, like a yoga nidra, mentally saying things like "i have nothing else to do, and nowhere else to be. i am here to relax." really helped. also, when my mind starts going off on a crazy line of thought and i recognize it, i can usually get it to stop by mentally saying "i can think about this tomorrow." i'm still amazed that it even works. the idea that you can so easily trick (or i guess vocally control?) your own mind just sounds ridiculous. I suppose though that different minds work differently, and the mental words may not work for everybody, or not all the time.

  • In tech support we called the mouse the "math coprocessor", and any interactions with it sped up all computation.

  • is it not a record low? what if it went up for the rest of its existence. would this point in time not be recorded as its historic low point?
