  • Exactly. It's very human to find mirth in any misfortune that we have no emotional connection to.

  • I'm startled to hear of this, the animation style is so rough and the music is so (damn it) good that I assumed this was a small group of real artists committed to genuine work. God damn it.

  • Thanks! I'm still a little self-conscious about using it in public since I don't really have the dress sense to go with it, so I probably end up looking a bit like I stole it. But I am happy with the workmanship. Have since started filling the insides with iron-on patches. Wish I could figure out how to attach a stand-up arm to the insides, that would be sweet.

  • Last week was slightly a blur, my wife is out of work and watching our kid during summer break, but my mother's coming later this week to do some of that. It's also kind of a blur because we started daily exercise again and it always kicks my arse to get back in the saddle with strength training. If I had a gym nickname it'd be "Newbie Gains" because I keep quitting, going sedentary, and starting again from scratch.

They've got me taking on more accountancy tasks at work, sounds like I might be headed in that direction instead of claims adjusting. Fine by me, better than trying to learn maritime claims adjusting while working remotely.

  • My condolences for you and your family. We lost my father in law almost a year ago to the day, and we still aren't really sure how to process it emotionally. It was so sudden, and we never got to say goodbye. It's like I can't even access the grief in a real way, no idea what to do about it.

...Times like this I regret the silly username, I'm being sincere right now.

  • My wife and I agreed that we wouldn't have been friends if we'd met as kids. We've both come such a long way since then, now we're inseparable.

  • Unironically yes

  • It'd be highly context sensitive for me. I had a horrific hamster accident as a kid myself, so I might laugh out of pure unprocessed trauma.

  • I don't remember much about the view, blame the frisky partner. But yeah, would love to see good passenger trains in the US someday.

  • That was the part of my answer I wasn't as happy with, admittedly. The way things are in the states make it really hard to see how you'd set up a politically independent, impartial yet informed, and corruption-resistant governing body for any kind of pot of public money. Especially a pot of money that would be clawed away from tyrannical billionaires who would have every reason to want to ratfuck the thing or get their money back.

  • Feels like they're always adding shit to ereaders to inflate their MSRP. It can and should be a dirt cheap way to replace an arbitrary amount of paper waste.

  • His armpit looks like it shit itself

  • I used to ride that one between my Seattle and Oakland friend groups. I also once took Amtrak all the way to Seattle from the middle of Ohio with no sleeper. If I wasn't travelling with a frisky new partner it would have been quite miserable.

These days I am liking trains more than ever, the ones in the UK and Europe aren't perfect but even their worst are a better ride than Amtrak. Would love to see the Coast Starlight route again from the seat of a better train though.

  • Only thing the dad did wrong is set a bad example by getting caught laughing. Don't they say comedy is tragedy sped up?

  • I appreciated this joke in a way that would have been easily mistaken for hostility in person

  • That's cool! Not a question, just pointing out something I liked :D

  • Textures like this are so moody and tactile, it's hard not to love them. They can work really well when there's a sense of 3D construction to lend some weight to things.

I'm also really interested in how you used those gritty splatter effects for shading!
