  • If there are no comments on an episode thread before the next episode airs, then subsequent threads are not created so that rikka isn't just filling the community with empty threads. I believe your comment on this thread came after episode 2 had already aired, so the show was already disabled for rikka.

At any time though, you can request a thread for a specific episode by sending a private message to the bot. Let me know if you run into issues.

  • I've loved this series a lot. Those little killing machines are incredibly endearing...until they aren't.

  • Other than a dedicated tracker like AniList, I suspect many in this forum also use Mihon or one of its forks to both download new chapters that have released as well as track the read status. It is android only though.

  • Thanks for pointing this out. I try to fix these when I notice them, but I have been on vacation the past two weeks, so I haven't been as attentive as usual.

This duplication happens when rikka's attempt at making a post initially times out because ani.social doesn't respond, or responds super slowly. This means that rikka thinks that the post wasn't made successfully, so she will try to make the post again when she next runs. However, sometimes that first post still gets made, and we end up with a duplicate.

  • I am going to be posting a new weekly thread in a couple hours, so you might have some better luck if you repost this question there, but I have made a pass at some recommendations below. You have a lot of the recent ones I have enjoyed. Some others that come to mind:

    • Lycoris Recoil - Imagine John Wick but with anime girls
    • Villainess Level 99 - the animation quality isn't great, but the humor is and it wraps up nicely, not some cliffhanger that will never resolve
    • Mushishi - Anthology series...don't binge this one, take it slow and let your brain chew on each episode
    • Silent Witch - kind of like if you made Bocchi into an OP witch
    • 100 Girlfriends - Strap in to experience the best harem MC out there - Rentaro
    • Dungeon People - A great SoL about the folks working behind the scenes to make a dungeon work
    • Endo and Kobayashi - a fun take on the villainess genre; if you like tsunderes, you will like this one
    • Fruits Basket (2019) - one of the pillars of shoujo, and for a good reason
    • Slime 300 - a very laid back SoL, basically a CGDCT
    • Kino's Journey (2017) - anthology series...if you really like this, then you can watch the older 2003 series as well for some different stories
    • Love After World Domination - the red ranger falls in love with an enemy general...
    • Orb: On the Movements of the Earth - an anime about heliocentrism...yeah, it sounds weird as a premise, but it works...trust me.
    • Heavenly Delusion - Traveling across a post-apocalyptic Japan and things are kind of off...
    • Shimoneta - a world in which even the smallest dirty talk/gesture is literally illegal, meet the brave warriors fighting back against this censorship with the power of horny (note: don't watch this with anybody else in the room)
    • Yuri on Ice - dramatic ice skating (boys version) - Medalist is the girls version, but I haven't watched it, so I can't vouch for it, but I have heard good things.
  • Wait, so did episode 7 just air? If so, I will just make this be the thread for 6-7 and episode 8 should go like normal then.

  • Looks like Bodacious Space Pirates.

Fun fact - I visited Tokyo years ago when I had a friend living over there teaching English as part of the JET program. When I visited Ueno Park, there was a group of cosplayers in the park all in costumes from this show doing a photoshoot. I had no idea what show it was at the time, but figured it out years later when I came across a random image in a thread like this one and was able to piece it together.

  • Great color page with a title drop. It almost felt like the series end, but it isn't marked as such on MD.

  • I Like Villains, so I Reincarnated as One

I was ready to write about how I started this manga and am actually kind of liking it...only to find out that I am reading a manga for a series that is very similar, That is Needed for a Villainous Aristocrat. Too many villain stories in my rotation lately I guess.

  • I am pretty excited about this one. It is a community favorite over on !manga@ani.social and it is very funny.

  • Cute series!

It's a shame it's ending there then. That is unless she ends up not being able to hold herself back...

  • TIL! Thanks!

  • Ubuntu already has some anime-ready mascots they could use from their official manga, Ubunchu!

  • I tend to prefer softer magic systems like you have described in stories for this reason. Most writers aren't good at writing a hard magic system, so those stories tend to not hold together too well. I find it easier to suspend disbelief if the magic system starts loose to begin with; it makes it less jarring later on.

  • Others in this thread are close to the truth when they say this is a light novel thing more than a manga thing. The reality is that this is a web novel thing, even before these stories become published light novels. I am going to quote an answer I wrote previously about this:

Long, specific titles have always been somewhat of a thing. For example, did you know that the novel we typically refer to as Robinson Crusoe, published in 1719, was originally titled thusly:

"The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates. Written by Himself."

In modern light novels, the long titles come from the ease with which amateur writers can self publish to a website like syosetu. This causes tons and tons of stories within the same genre or content tags to be listed alongside each other. So, having a long, specific title helps your writing stand out by acting as a quick synopsis rather than having a website visitor click through and read the synopsis of hundreds of search results.

A lot of our modern light novels were originally self published as webnovels to these sites and have therefore inherited the long titles that helped them stand out on those sites. I just wish that the titles would be adapted and shortened as well as they transition from webnovel -> light novel -> manga -> anime. Some of them just keep the long title but pick up shorter nicknames since the Japanese language is so prone to portmanteaus (konosuba, danmachi, arifureta, etc.).

  • I actually have relevant experience here! I broke my arm in middle school while playing soccer and ended up getting a couple plates and screws in my arm as a result. I had to go back to the doctor a bunch of times to see if I needed to get them removed since there was a chance that it could have impeded any further growth as I was still an adolescent. In the end though, I didn't need them to be taken out and I have lived with them in my arm ever since. I can feel them under my skin along the outside of my forearm if I feel it just right.

...anyway, I am glad they are looking forward and thinking about what comes after high school. Chokki-chan is graduating real soon, right? So, I think it behooves them to try to make things official soon.

  • The article refers to it as a short anime, which usually means episodes are only like 5 minutes long.

  • Careful what you say or Rentaro will make an app for you that spits out 100GF quotes!

  • I kinda want to stick with this just to see where it ends up. Like, what are we doing with this character now? The only thing I can think of is that this character that is interested in Mitsuki is going to somehow run across that other character that was interested in Aya and they will somehow conspire to right the main ship.
