Have you even understood what I told you? Edit: Where did they say they follow semantic versioning? You know, not every versioning has the same system. In example the Linux Kernel does not follow semantic, Firefox does not follow semantic and so on.

Having competition in browser engines is important. Imagine no Firefox was available, everyone was at the mercy of Googles work on the core. I don't want to use any Chromium based browser, so only a Firefox based alternative it is for me. I also highly liked the way Mozilla and Firefox was operating, but in recent years it gotten worse. And using forks has some trust issues too to me. I can't trust most forks, but I'm currently reavaluating the situation.

To me Firefox is still the best browser out of all available options. The only thing I would consider is a fork like Librewolf, that still is Firefox with some bullshit removed or disabled. That's as far as I would go.

A bit ballsy to release the 1.0.0 version immediately, isn’t it? :)

The initial version number doesn't matter, it matters how the follow up versions are handled as new numbers, if they follow a specific logic. For the first public release, it makes sense to have a v1.0. I don't mind that, I mean it makes more sense than 30 years stuck in 0.x releases.

I guess its fair enough. My point was just to sympathize with Firefox a little bit, to explain their situation and why they are in it. And as said, I also have issues with Firefox, such as integration of Ai in all sort of stuff, just for the sake of Ai. So maybe I shouldn't be so defensive about it.

It was not about the contract with Google being ended, but governments involved to block Google from paying money to control the market as their default search engine. Looks like they did not block it yet. I think Mozilla wants the money, because otherwise Firefox would stop to exist. Google wants to give money too, because in the grandscheme its little money for them. But Google want to support Firefox, so they can say "look we even support our competition, we are not a monopoly, we are good".

Many websites are detecting tools like curl, wget and httrack and either rate limit or block them. Sometimes one can get around it when using more detailed configurations that mimick like a human using a real browser, but that is basically tricking them. The reason why they are blocking such automated tools is multifolded (if that is even a word): a) downloading pages and data in short amount of time creates huge stress for the servers, meaning its like an attack that halts their systems, b) that in turn also leads to higher server costs for them, c) they don't get visitors for the advertisements and engagement, as the tools download autonomously, d) is also sometimes seen as theft from Ai companies, so they do try to block automated mass downloads.

Besides these tools there are other ways, more sophisticated and requires more work to mimick real browsers. In some cases even using real browser engines, but changed the browser in a way to make automated work possible, such as https://www.selenium.dev/ . Especially needed when JavaScript and other dynamic content is involved. Maybe even programming Python with custom solutions. There is also a way to directly program in Typescript using https://deno.com/ . But these solutions are a bit advanced and only recommended if you want go deeper.

Soo, having all said that, this might not help directly solving your issue, but I hope its still helpful in why its difficult. Especially nowadays, because companies have better detection and blocking, because of Ai...

I think the sponsored links, promotions and Ai efforts come from their crisis trying to make money and to depend less on Googles money. While trying to focus on privacy and not sell user data. That's a tricky situation to be in, if the browser isn't making money. I wouldn't call Firefox bloatware, as it is bloated like any other modern browser.

And it's not like I wouldn't have an issue with Firefox either. For long time I am looking for an alternative, and almost switched over to Librewolf. But unfortunately Librewolf have removed the internal password manager of Firefox, and they recommend to use an external manager. Which is the deal breaker for me. So even if Firefox is flawed, I'll stay with it and do the customization and settings myself, which is a lot.

So I just started playing Brotato, the cousin (or should I say brother?^^) of Vampire Survivors, as if I didn't have a backlog enough. I avoided these games until now, for whatever reason my curiosity picked up. But now I can see the appeal to it. Well for one price was not the actual issue. You can get them for 5 Dollars / Euros, or 3 on a sale.

Why would I chose to play Brotato instead the more famous (and vampires are cooler) Vampire Survivors? After researching and reading opinions about both games, I came to a conclusion that Brotato might be better on the gameplay side, with more depth in it through meaningful different characters and items. And Vampire Survivors is also focused on collectables, which I'm not such a big fan of, but for many that is a plus. I also like the idea of Brotato releasing enemies in waves and then in between one can purchase stuff with money in a shop. I will probably end up playing the other game too... and then there is Mega Bonk, which I also ignored until now.

She is not even speaking about videogames, but all sort of games and sport, even quizzes. I don't know what brain rot this woman has, but she seems to just want to cuddle and talk. I absolutely respect a lifestyle and opinion, even if I disagree. But I do not respect trying to ban that for other people. That crosses the line into evil. Actually she sounds like an evil Marvel character who hates Joker. Maybe Joker played with her a game to destroy her mind or something like that. Clearly this is not normal.

Edit: 2 days later I read this old comment... and realized Joker isn't even a Marvel character. Oh boy, thank god nobody else noticed it.

I don't think Ai companies / crawlers are honest, so I would rule that out. And its not like a single big event happened over time, but many and people slowly catching up now. In example the big PewDiePie video is just 1 year old, lot of other "smaller" channels like Linus Tech Tips and many other even smaller channels talk about their experience switching to Linux, how to switch, what it offers and why Windows sucks. Valve with their ongoing support and development of Steam operating system and hardware sending shockwaves of news throughout the entire industry. Then there are governments and companies in the world who suddenly switch lot of machines at the same time.

There is so much going on in small steps, then together it makes a single huge step. Or there is just an error in the graph and I made myself a monkey with this speech. Both possible realities are fun.

Way back in 2010 I made a prediction to my best friend using Windows: In 10 years we will have reached 10% market share. The catch with this prediction is, it was purely a wish without ANY understanding of the market whatsoever. Obviously 10 years passed and in 2020 I was wrong. We got COVID instead... Buuuuuut... only 6 years later we have already reached 10%!

Besides all the efforts that are going in into the Linux operating systems and eco system, we got two major companies supporting Linux with a huge impact: Valve, with all their gaming related efforts and Microsoft, with their free advertisement through Windows 11. Thank you to both companies and all other parties involved making this possible!

With that said, I make a new prediction: 10 years later, we (Linux) reach 20% market share AND OS X+macOS together reach 42%! Yes I even make a prediction for Apple. Also why is even macOS and OS X not a single graph, while everything Linux related is and even all Windows versions are a single graph? That makes the Apple line smaller than it is.

Ah, I see, its a bummer. I guess the game is good enough that it was worth the purchase and starting again; speaks for the game itself. Especially with the version 1.0 release there are huge changes that its probably exciting again. However I find it a bit weird that it does not have cross-save, because it has cross-play joining console and PC servers. But this would require a third party account from Pocket Pair. Whatever, I was just thinking a bit out loud.
