  • last night at dinner i had a conversation with my mom after a filipino news program (tv patrol alam ng mga kababayan) about their little sports segment. a star tennis player (alexandra eala) defeated the world's no. 4 (qinwen zheng).

    i told her how odd it must look from the chinese audience's perspective, that they compete against another asian country and the athletes managers are all white americans. she agreed and listed other examples of filipino athletes managed by americans (pacquiao). something mundane like that just shows even symbolically how colonialism affects everything.
