  • What do you know about history of tabacco and smoking?

  • Links to older studies are literally in the first line of the article.

  • I have only induction stoves for 15 years now and the only thing that "sucks" is a) old electric that just required time to get used to b) touch control panel instead of buttons/knobs

  • AI researcher "wisdom" as basis for the article? Check Wall Street Journal article about how "Europe is dying" because of Renewables. Check. I thought Vox was a good source in the past, but now I'm not so sure. And I AGREE with the thesis in the title of this article.

  • Almost no one mentioned roller shutter. They need to be installed outside to actually work, but they are very good at reducing temperature inside (I had them installed on my southwest facing windows). Air conditioning is ok, but it's also such a lazy solution and it seemingly prevents people from even trying to come up with different ideas.

  • Spineless. How did the conservatives and liberals manage to keep convincing European voters that they are something else than big tech& trump&putin bootlickers, I'll never understand.

  • Hiker decided to keep checking himself after hiking - decision criticized by bloodsucking ticks

  • I had the same phase last year (and I can't say I fully exited it yet). They all use the one most efficient build and you really have to look for this one thing that tells them apart 😅

  • Looks like a curlew 😊 Godwits would have straight breaks.

  • Ukraine stopped placating Trump about a year ago, focused on their own military capacity and this strategy pays out pretty well at the moment. Which IS a monumental shift.

  • Yep, agreed with the previous commenter. +18 means that temperature is 18°C higher than the norm for June (in that area) Ireland swelters under 26° and full sun, which is definitely unusual here, it should be 15°C and rainy.

  • I didn't expect so many people on solarpunk forum crying for protection of dirty gas appliances 🤔

  • Oh, I like these initiatives - when they were moving a puppet theatre in my city they recycled a lot of materials and made an exhibition about that process

  • Frankly, if you think about it for a moment, the way this article characterises trying to be less dependent on fossil fuels (and petrostates) is quite insane.

  • Solution might also lie in history - some old food varieties are more resilient and less fertilizer and resource dependent than what we currently use (Eating to extinction " comes to mind)

  • The are shrinking the protected areas along the railway - the whole thing is obviously not just about the train but about clearing more forest for soy farms (and making the process more profitable because trains are indeed MUCH more cost efficient than trucks)

  • It will be pain in the ass at work when I often have to quickly find a specific thing, not AI appropriation of that thing.

  • I just got educated that it's cultural differences - it's perfectly normal to own an apartment where I come from (Poland)

  • I'm sorry, why are we operating under the assumption that apartments=rentals? It's not a given at all, even taking into consideration that there is quite a lot of systems where you are not renting from private landlords but from the city/cooperative
