  • I live in Denver and this has been an ongoing thing since Casa Bonita reopened, before the 2nd Trump regime and the latest season of South Park.

    Stone and Parker seemed to be heavily involved with the renovation but seem to take a mostly hands off approach to the day to day management. Andrew Carnegie took similar action during labor disputes, letting others handle the dirty work while he fucked off to Scotland so he could appear to be outside of the issue.

    I always liked Stone and Parker, I don’t know what their thoughts are but it’s not the best look. And to be fair, they are a bunch of “richers”

    Sadly so is being anti-immigrant. The Alien and Sedition Acts were created less than fifteen years after the Constitution. The Know Nothing Party was a popular anti-immigrant party in the mid 1800s. From then to the mid 1900s were, the Chinese Exclusion Act (1882), The National Origins Act (1924), Japanese Concentration Camps (WW2), Operation Wetback (1954), and those are just the big ones.

    The ideals that you have for the US are noble, I hold them too. It’s amazing what the US could be if we (especially our politicians) actually held ourselves to those ideals while addressing our current problems.

The idea of faith based groups helping and personal accountability is just added Libertarian icing on top.   • All in the family might scratch that itch. The humor holds up and it tackles more serious topics like homosexuality with a nuance that you don’t see now. Just remember, youre not supposed to agree with Archie. Someone mentioned Maude, Maude and The Jeffersons were both spin offs of All in the Family.

    Not quite as serious in the hard hitting topics but still one of favorites, was Get Smart. It was released around the same time as the first few James Bond movies and was produced by Mel Brooks before he started making movies.

    As someone born in the 80s, Nick at Nite was a god send when it came to discovering older sitcoms.
