    A few episodes into rewatching The X-files and they've already managed to do:

    War on Terror foreshadowing stuff as in evil terrorist agents from the middle east in the midst of innocent usaians.

    A misunderstood tech genius in true Suckerberg/Melon style, complete with the look of wearing only sweat pants and not brushing hair ever.

    A sentient evil AI programmed by said benevolent nerd billionaire.

    A smol bean defence contractor who is only looking out for their employees.

    Human nature as "we are just out to get each other, always have been". Provided by the antropologist when they come across the jersey devil.

  • The modern ghoul of Western imperialism seems to be very poorly educated on average and so high on previous propaganda that they genuinely believe they are living in some epic black & white fantasy battle where their wholesome West is the obvious victor in all things, just because it's ontologically "the right side" for them. Nothing is material, it's all vibes and nothing matters except reaction.

    I suppose this is not a bad thing, the ruling class sucking in its own class consciousness. It's completely different to the fully self-aware seeming monsters like Kissinger.

  • Started rewatching the X-files for the first time since its original run. I was a huge fan back then.

    Still entertained, but not hard to see how this stuff has played into the weird lizard people/deep state right wing conspiracy stuff of the last decades.

  • Yup, been doing it for over 20 years for all my family, because poor. I also do my partners amazing Marx-beard far better than any barber ever has. It's not hard.

  • Heat pumps work extremely well and are relatively easy to install. My parents live in an old ass wood warmed house and put in two, no longer need to warm it with firewood as much in the winter.

    Heat pumps are the go-to here, winter temps go far below 35f. On average about 4f is probably about where we are at.

  • At work they tried to take away our coffee and milk/oat milk this year, it's been the only thing among many shitty things that resulted in so much pushback that the organization had to back off. We have a 15min paid coffee break, the drip coffee machines exist in all the numerous offices and it is indeed a very communal thing.

    At home we now do aeropress as there are only two people drinking morning coffees and I started to feel uneasy about the wasted coffee as with a drip machine at home you tend to make too much. And you tend to drink too much coffee, which I used to do (two pots a day at my worst). My gi system can't handle it anymore so there's no reason to keep counterspace for the machine.
