  • I dunno, makes as much sense as weighing different voters votes OP.

  • Whilst I'm in agreement that the elderly don't have to live with the decisions they make, I don't think this is the answer. After all, why not say babies have the highest weighting as they'll have to deal with the fallout for the longest.

So the simple answer...make the elderly work menial jobs nobody else wants until they drop dead. This solves their other complaint that too.many foreigners keep coming over and working in farms. Problem solved. Or develop a "Logan's Run" type system instead.

  • Baptism yes, Pug Jesus no!

  • Was wondering why my lasagna tasted different today. But hay, it was okay

  • The Trine games are pretty fun with multiple players if I remember correctly

  • Did you do anything to fill the void? Like actually being social irl? Talking to people irl? What you're describing is a normal human interaction but if you're not getting that irl, you'll fall back onto social media for the simple fact is that you're human and human need contact with others to save them from going insane.

  • I don't mind USians posting about their shitty government as long as they realise that not everyone is a USian - those cunts are the worst.

  • Tl;dr:

"Me and my mates are fine but some of them still whinge they can only take 3 vacations a year. I consider myself progressive, so know they can cope with only 2 trips to Europe this year. Burnham needs to convince them this is okay - I believe some people can only afford 1 holiday because they spend all their money on horses and cigarettes. I've never met anyone poorer than that so they must not exist"

    Probably.

  • Or, and I say this as an Australian where we have compulsory voting, do the exact opposite:

    • Compulsory voting so everyone is forced to vote.
    • Make it very easy to vote because of that.
    • Support education of what voting means and why.
    • Make it on a weekend so it's even easier.
    • Early voting and mail-in voting to make it easier.
    • Transferable vote and ranked choice voting.

This allows for multiple parties, weeds out/waters down the crazies and in general, the population get a more representative democracy. Mixed-member proportionality would be even better.

Your version leads to disenfranchisement, a second-class citizenry and oppression - which is exactly what the fascists and white nationalists want. Do you know literally anything about how hard it was for people to gain the right to vote over history?

  • A few years ago, the naysayers were all saying "Australia will be a dumping ground for ICE vehicles", now "Australia will be a dumping ground for handleless doors". Next it will be "Australia will be a dumping ground for older battery styles" or something equally inane.

    Funnily enough, we aren't.

  • You (not you personally but the non-facists in the US) have literally given up on the idea of the US haven't you? It certainly seems like it unfortunately. There's just no drive to stop any of it.

  • No, deal with your own sewage

  • A few questions here.

Why? Because the US is purposely obtuse.Ripped off? Yes, that's the point.Difficult to understand actual cost? Yes, that's the point.Visitors? The US doesn't care about them, or you, or anyone else, and barely about USians either.

  • Some floors go through phases of occupancy. It's a government-hired building and every now and then an agency will pop up, and either survive, grow and go off to find another space or be mothballed and it becomes empty again.

The 7 floors of staff above (or at least those feeling social) piled in there earlier in the day for a morning tea so it becomes slightly less liminal during those times. Kinda. Still feels weird being in an empty office with hundreds of other people.

  • "Oh no, the consequences of my actions have affected me"

  • Attempted coup d'etat.

  • It depends what it is.

If it's a product then yes, boycotting is capitalistic. It is, in its method, a form of "free market" choice.

If it's a system (like strike action/protest), then it's anti-capitalistic, and could be classed as non-capitalistic because it's a form of socialistic action.

My 2c at least - but I don't pride myself on my vast intellect.

When my cat is somewhere in the house, I don't worry as she's probably snuggled up being sleepy. When my dog is somewhere, I automatically assume she's being naughty or up to no good.
