Ink52 2026 Prompt 27 - Mangled

Hey there, Inkuators-

Your windy art was wild and crazy and I felt like I was enjoying a breezy day over and over again. There are difficult things happening all over the world and your work helps bring a small bit of joy and escape to so many people. Thank you for sharing!

I’m over here, busily preserving all the summer fruit that is available to me. (I make jam when I’m stressed!) As I sort through piles of strawberries, I’m laughing as I remember a year or so ago when I was babysitting my 2 year old niece for the day. I was in the middle of making jam and had mountains of strawberries to process. She wanted to “help” and I wanted her nearby so I gave her a little stool to stand on, her own cutting board, and a little plastic disposable butter knife to cut up a berry. We worked side-by-side, cutting and snacking together. She sawed and squished and hammered and gnawed on her giant strawberry until it no longer resembled anything other than a big blob of pink snot. I was afraid she was going to ask me to taste it, but instead, she announced “I’m gone give dis to Unka Jake!” She hopped down and ran into his office with her offering, commanding that he “eat it!” To his credit, he ate several MANGLED berry blobs that day without batting an eye. He’s the very best.

For this week, show me your interpretation of MANGLED and count yourself lucky if you can enjoy a piece of toast with strawberry jam.

Happy Inking!

Love-

Alison
