  • I was recently shopping for a phone too, OP15 was a contender. Originally wanted to grab the OP12 for it's camera and price but I missed the train. OP15 was tempting but expensive so I held off. Samsung Ultra are all overpriced and stagnated.

    I eventually gave up on my hard requirements of 512GB storage and better battery life and bought a used Samsung Ultra for 800 CAD. Battery is disappointing as expected, but it does everything just as good as a new Ultra seeing as they haven't updated any specs outside CPU power in 5 years.

    Am I happy with the market state? No. Am I happy with the phone? Yes.

  • 20s male. Generally once per day but I find it's easier and easier to forget and I sometimes go a week without thinking about it. I rarely if ever do 2. I've gotta cool down for 20 minutes between, which gives a lot of time to realise I should be doing something else.

    1-2 daily sounds totally within normal range.

  • Yeah there's a fair bit outside of home people don't mention. Basically any system-level stuff: fstab mounts, all your system packages, /opt installs, config tweaks you had to do. It tales some time to get set back up after a while on the same install.

    After having to reinstall a couple times myself I now don't touch anything outside of /home by hand. It's all scripted so that I can copy /home, run the script, and be back up and running. Well, theoretically, there's usually a hiccup or two. But the peace of mind knowing it's all (self) documenting is quite nice. Not for everybody of course.

  • Aah, that's a bit hard to calculate due to Steam keys from bundles and other websites. Running some rough numbers it looks to be about $2600 CAD over 15 years, so... not too bad?

  • Probably quite a lot lol. But was the Steam Machine going to make senss for pre-existing PC owners at the OG price either? Ever since their announcement I've been convinced that it's targeted towards newbies getting into the scene as a good enough "just buy this one" kinda deal. Or maybe as a TV box for people with a good desktop already.

    I was assuming $1000 CAD originally for the Machine, I'm gonna throw out a guess for funsies here of $1600 CAD now. So a bundle might be 1700. Total conjecture but I want it in writing if I'm accurate lol.
