  • I 100% agree with you, attack the ideas, not the man. The idea of a secret filter being applied, whatever the stated intention, is in itself a massive ethical problem. Of course, the person implementing such a filter can and should be shunned, but any overt forms of bullying and harassment are totally counterproductive, as it only serves to bolster the claimed need for such a filter, like you mentioned.

    Having said that, I'm not in any way defending what he did. And tbh the memes have been quite funny and mostly on point.

  • I called it a lie because it's misleading and inaccurate, but I didn't want to re-litigate the whole thing either. But I get your point.

    The first inaccuracy is highlighted below:

    In the same light as #1, I don’t know which admin it was, but after the dbzer0/nexus admins were calling for one of LW’s admins to be murdered, one of the blahaj admins endorsed .nexus and had the gall to call it “well moderated”. That endorsement from blahaj was NOT present prior to that incident. Again, not sure which admin that was, but only admins can issue endorsements, so it was one of them.

    It was one admin involved, who was only an admin on anarchist nexus. And that admin immediately stepped down to keep the peace. But the way he says it, there's a clear implication multiple admins across both instances were involved in the so-called "death threat".

    The second inaccuracy is as you have described. It should never have been characterised as a "death threat" in the first place, and imo no reasonable person could conclude otherwise.

    3. Have a tantrum about how another admin is having a tantrum
    4. Invent a cult of personality around your opponent to explain why people agree with their opinion on this topic: "His userbase of malcontents jerk off his ego in the comments while adding yet more speculation, rumors, and the like."
    5. Double down on the accusations about Blahaj, because fuck the trans instance if they don't align with a PG moderation policy
    6. Wreck your whole repository to prevent it being forked normally, because its MY PRECIOUS AND YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!
    7. Continue to live peacefully in your PG bubble along with everyone else who didn't realise they were also in your bubble. Life is good :)
